Students, doctoral students, employees and guests sang Gaudeamus Igitur together. Thus, the new academic year at the Poznan University of Technology was inaugurated.
"Health security was important while maintaining the quality of education and ensuring conditions for research" - said the Rector, prof. Teofil Jesionowski in his speech. Referring to the situation with the pandemic, and the war in Ukraine, prof. Teofil Jesionowski expressed the conviction that we will not give up and we will continue to be optimistic. "Please do remember that the Poznan University of Technology is your second home," added the Rector. In his speech, he also referred to the academic community of the EUNICE European University with Poznan University of Technology as a leader. “Now there are ten universities that share knowledge and opportunities. EUNICE has a total of one hundred and sixty thousand students and fourteen thousand employees”.
Jolanta Musielak, president of the University Council, thanked the academic community for its commitment to support Ukraine. “Instability and constant changes mean that we do not have ready solutions for upcoming problems. We have to change our approach and prepare new business models. It is you, the students, who have the opportunity to create the change” said Jolanta Musielak.
Wojciech Charoński, chairman of the Students’ Union, thanked his colleagues for choosing the university. “By choosing the Poznan University of Technology, you chose the future. It is a very friendly place. (...)please remember that the most important thing is to maintain a balance between fun, learning and other activities”.
Over four thousand young people will start studying at the Poznan University of Technology. It is almost half a thousand more than last year. We are now trusted by nearly fifteen thousand students. The Poznan University of Technology has been one of the most frequently chosen technical universities in Poland for many years.
